We are so excited to bring you this unique Spring Break experience! We hope that your week will be filled with amazing opportunities from exploring your craft to seeing new shows and meeting new people!
At the Welcome Party on Monday Night, you will have the chance to mix and mingle with OCU alumni already living and working in New York. You will be able to put faces with names and get to know more of your OCUNYC Family. We ask that everyone plan to arrive by Monday, March 16th at 5pm to participate in the Orientation & Welcome Party! We also invite you to stay through the end of the week, as we will host the Three Queens Benefit Concert on Friday, March 20th to cap off our Spring Break festivities.
The workshop, itself, has been carefully designed to provide you with all the tips and tools necessary to help begin the transition from theatre student to theatre professional. Whether you are a Freshman, Grad Student or anywhere in between, there is something for you at this workshop.
The classes are designed with two goals. The first is to begin your exposure to NYC theatre professionals. You will meet with casting directors, union officials, directors, choreographers and teachers and have the opportunity to showcase yourself to them. Our faculty is always INCREDIBLE! You will see for yourself that we are bringing you the cream of the crop of the NYC Theatre Industry.
The second goal is to provide a SAFE environment for more learning in your craft. Do not think of this as a three-day audition! Our faculty is well aware that all of you are in different stages of preparation for the business. They will help guide you on the path to artistic growth and success in the theatre business. You will receive constructive critiques and suggestions as to how to improve yourself and your career.
Don't be afraid to try something new! We hope that everyone will give everything a try. Even if you consider yourself a newbie in one area or another…give it a shot…this is your chance to learn.
About the mock audition…We will do our best to simulate a real NYC open call experience. You will sing a 16 bar cut of your best song. You will also learn a short combination and dance in small groups. There will be no "cuts" or eliminations. However, you will receive critiques, both general and individual.
We have also structured the schedule in the hopes of allowing you a good amount of free time to see shows and sight-see.
